Platinum Series

PT1-LA4-USA MDB Platinum from Pyramid: Bus-Powered Validator, 150-Note Locking Box

MDB Platinum powered by the vending bus, with a locking 150-note cash box and the 05AA0038 harness fitted at the factory.

The PT1-LA4-USA is Pyramid's MDB build (power code 4) paired with the locking 150-note cash box (codes L and A). Power and data both come from the vending machine controller over the Multi-Drop Bus, so there is no separate supply to wire. BillAcceptors.us lists it as the PT1-LB4-USA with a 150-note box swapped in for the 500-note box, which makes it the choice for snack, drink and combo machines whose door is set up for the smaller box. US notes run through a 67 mm path, and the MDB harness, P/N 05AA0038, arrives installed.

Installation & setup notes

Mount the acceptor, then plug the factory 05AA0038 lead into the machine's MDB bus. Pyramid's pinout puts +24 VDC on pin 1, DC return on pin 2, Master Receive on pin 4, Master Transmit on pin 5 and communications common on pin 6, with pin 3 left open.

A 150-note box fills sooner than the 500-note version, so look at how many bills the machine takes between visits before you set a route schedule. The rear LED flashes green for a full box and purple when the box is missing.

Same bus with more room: PT1-LB4-USA (500-note box). Machines without MDB: PT1-LA1-USA for 12 V or PT1-LA3-USA for 120 V AC.

Pyramid's install order applies here too: disconnect all power, mount the unit, connect the cable, secure the wiring, close the door and power up. Then feed each denomination to confirm the machine credits it correctly.

PT1-LA4-USA questions

What does the A in PT1-LA4-USA stand for?

150-note cash box capacity. The L before it means a locking-type box, 4 is Pyramid's MDB power option and USA is the currency. The PT1-LB4-USA has a B in that spot, which is the 500-note box.

Does it need its own power supply?

No. The MDB build draws +24 VDC from pin 1 of the bus connector, so the vending controller's bus powers it along with the coin changer and other MDB devices.

Which LED codes relate to the cash box?

Pyramid's table lists a green flash for a full box, a purple flash for a missing box, and a red flash for an acceptor or stacker jam or punch failure. A solid green means no error.

How often should the cash box be serviced?

Pyramid's maintenance table calls for checking cash box belt tension and cleaning the belts once a year. The validation, wheel and OAS sensors get canned air every 3 months.
