Pyramid PT1-LA1-USA Platinum: 12 V DC Acceptor With a Locking 150-Note Cash Box

12 V DC Platinum that stacks into a locking 150-note cash box, for games and kiosks laid out for the smaller box.

The PT1-LA1-USA runs on the same 12-volt supply as Pyramid's standard Platinum, but notes stack into a locking 150-note cash box. Read the part code left to right: L is a locking-type box, A is 150-note capacity, 1 is 12 VDC power and USA is US currency. BillAcceptors.us lists it as the PT1-LB1-USA with the 150-note box fitted in place of the 500-note one, so pick it when your cabinet is set up for that box or when you collect often enough that 150 notes is plenty. US bills enter through a 67 mm path.

Key features

  • Locking 150-note cash box (L = locking, A = 150 in Pyramid's part code)
  • 67 mm bill path for US notes from $1 to $100
  • Takes 12 VDC on pin 11 of the 18-pin connector, the standard Platinum supply
  • Open-collector pulse credits, or Mars 600-baud serial, RS-232 and RS-232 over USB
  • Pin 10 Out Of Service line for hosts that watch acceptor status

Installation & setup notes

Wire it as you would any 12 V Platinum: +12 VDC to pin 11 (red) and DC ground to pin 4 (black) on the 18-pin connector. Pulse hosts read credits on pin 1, a normally high transistor output limited to 5 to 12 VDC at 40 mA.

Plan collections around the 150-note box. Pyramid's diagnostic LED flashes green when the box is full and purple when it is missing, and in Mars 600-baud mode the unit reports Full or Jam (8DH) to the host.

Prefer to empty less often? The PT1-LB1-USA is this unit with the 500-note box. For wall power with a 150-note box, see the PT1-LA3-USA; for an MDB vending controller, the PT1-LA4-USA.

Pyramid's yearly maintenance item for the cash box is a belt check: confirm the tension and clean the belts. Sensor dusting with canned air is on the 3-, 6- and 12-month list.

PT1-LA1-USA questions

PT1-LA1-USA or PT1-LB1-USA: what is the difference?

Cash box capacity. The A in LA1 is Pyramid's code for a 150-note box; the B in LB1 means 500 notes. Both boxes are locking-type, both units run on 12 VDC, and both take US bills through a 67 mm path.

How do I remove and empty the cash box?

Per Pyramid's cash box walkthrough: turn the key in the top of the acceptor 90 degrees, pull the blue latch back, lift the box and slide it rearward to take it off. A key in the back of the box unlocks it, and the top then pulls back to reach the notes.

How does my game know the box is full?

The diagnostic LED flashes green on a full box. Serial hosts in Mars 600-baud mode get the Full or Jam message, and Pyramid's table for that mode says pin 10 (Out Of Service) is pulled low when the stacker is full.

How much 12 V current should I budget?

Pyramid rates the Platinum at 150 mA idle and 2.2 A maximum, at 12 VDC ±10%. Size the supply for the 2.2 A peak, not the idle figure.
