Platinum Series

PT1-LA3-USA Platinum by Pyramid: Mains-Powered Validator, 150-Note Locking Box

Mains-powered Platinum with relay credits and a locking 150-note cash box, for outlet-fed cabinets built around the smaller box.

The PT1-LA3-USA combines Pyramid's optional 120 VAC supply (power code 3) with a locking 150-note cash box (codes L and A). That suits equipment wired for line voltage only, such as changers and outlet-fed kiosks, where the door is laid out for the smaller box. BillAcceptors.us describes it as the PT1-LB3-USA with the 150-note box in place of the 500-note one. Notes travel a 67 mm path sized for US currency, and credits can come from dry relay contacts or from the open-collector line on the 18-pin connector.

Key features

  • Locking 150-note cash box, coded L and A in the part number
  • Line-voltage input on the 9-pin connector: hot on pin 4, neutral on pin 6
  • Two credit outputs to choose from: relay contacts on pins 7 and 8, or the pin 1 open collector
  • 67 mm bill path for $1 through $100 US notes
  • Pyramid warns not to feed +12 V to pin 11 when the AC supply is in use

Installation & setup notes

Bring 120 VAC to the 9-pin connector, hot on pin 4 and neutral on pin 6. Leave pin 11 of the 18-pin connector unconnected, because Pyramid's manual says not to apply +12 V there when the optional AC supply is fitted.

Pulse hosts get a choice of credit route. The relay on pins 7 and 8 keeps the host's credit input isolated from the acceptor, while pin 1 on the 18-pin connector is a transistor output limited to 5 to 12 VDC at 40 mA.

With only 150 notes of room, it helps to wire pin 10 (Out Of Service) to the host or a lamp. Pyramid's Mars serial table says the line is pulled low when the stacker is full, and pin 13 provides +5 V through a 410-ohm resistor to light an LED.

Same wall power with the 500-note box: PT1-LB3-USA. A 150-note box on a 12 V rail: PT1-LA1-USA. On an MDB vending controller: PT1-LA4-USA.

No outlet wiring at the mounting spot? Pyramid's 05AA0012 harness adapts the 9-pin connector to a standard wall plug. For RS-232 hosts, 05AA0068 is the DB-9 lead Pyramid lists for 120 V units; the 05AA0009 version is for 12 V acceptors only.

PT1-LA3-USA questions

What separates the PT1-LA3-USA from the PT1-LB3-USA?

Only the box size. A in the part number means 150 notes and B means 500. Both have a locking-type box, the 120 VAC supply and a 67 mm path for US bills.

Which credit output should I use?

Pyramid gives 120 VAC units both. Use the relay contacts on pins 7 and 8 of the 9-pin connector when the host needs a dry contact, or the pin 1 open collector on the 18-pin connector if it expects a 5 to 12 VDC transistor signal at 40 mA or less.

Can I connect 12 V as well as 120 V AC?

No. Pyramid's pin tables say not to connect pin 11 (+12 V) when the optional 120 VAC supply is used. Power this model from the 9-pin connector only.

What does a purple flash on the rear LED mean?

Cash box missing. Green flashing means the box is full, and red flashing points to an acceptor or stacker jam or a punch failure.
