Apex 7000 Series

Apex 7602-UB3 by Pyramid: VFM-Style 120V AC Bill Acceptor for $1 Through $100

AC-powered Apex for VFM-shaped door openings that need to take US notes up to $100.

Until now, the only Apex on this site for a mains-powered machine with a VFM-shaped opening was the 7402-UB3, and it tops out at $20. The 7602-UB3 is the large-note version of that unit: the same VFM-style front and internal 110 to 120 volt AC supply, combined with the magnetic-head reader of Pyramid's 7600 platform, so US $50 and $100 notes join the $1, $5, $10 and $20 it accepts. Set it next to the 7600-UB3 and only the bezel changes; set it next to the 7601-UB3 and the difference is a VFM-style front versus a Coinco-style one. Its plastic cassette holds 500 notes. Host signalling is not stated on the store listing, so run your machine past us before ordering.

Four choices in one part number

Under Pyramid's Apex ordering scheme, 7602-UB3 breaks down as the magnetic-head 76 reader for the US $1 to $100 set, bezel 02 in Pyramid's "VFM" style, cassette letter B for 500 notes, and power option 3, which Pyramid describes as a 120 VAC high-level operational supply that ships with a 9-pin AC harness. The VFM name belongs to Mars Electronics International.

Hooking up mains power

Disconnect all power to the machine before you start. On the 9-pin plug, the black wire on pin 4 takes 120 VAC hot and the white wire on pin 6 takes neutral; the green ring terminal bolts to a frame stud that is grounded, and tie wraps hold the harnesses in place. Pyramid's input rating for this supply is 100–240 VAC, 50–60 Hz, 0.7 A. Leave the +12 VDC pin (pin 11) on the 18-pin connector unused while the internal supply powers the unit. To run the acceptor from a wall outlet, Pyramid offers adapter harness 05AA0012.

Settings for large notes

DIP positions 1 through 4 cover the $1, $5, $10 and $20. The $50 and $100 have no switches of their own on this platform; Pyramid's manual enables them whenever position 4 is on. Pyramid's configuration card calls for the high security level whenever an acceptor takes high-denomination notes, which applies to any unit set up for fifties and hundreds.

7402-UB3, 7600-UB3 or 7601-UB3?

Stay with the 7402-UB3 if $20 is the largest note the machine will ever see; it shares this VFM-style front and AC supply but has no magnetic head.

A door cut for Pyramid's standard bezel takes the 7600-UB3, and a Coinco-shaped opening takes the 7601-UB3. All three $1-to-$100 AC units share the reader and the power supply, so the cutout makes the call.

Securing the VFM-style front

Pyramid sets a minimum for mounting: bolt through at least the top pair of horizontal bezel slots, with mounting posts no thinner than 4 mm, with the metal security plate sitting between the bezel and the acceptor body. On a wooden door, Pyramid's 95AB0001 adapter bracket gives the unit something solid to mount to.

Installation & setup notes

Use the 7602-UB3 in a 110–120VAC machine whose door is cut for a VFM-style validator and whose customers pay with $50 and $100 notes. The host signalling is not stated on this listing, so confirm your machine with us first.

On 120V Apex units, the U and D letters in the part number mark where the wire harness exits the chassis (rear on U-coded builds, side on D-coded builds). They do not mark a different stacking direction. A rear exit can pinch the harness in tight cabinets such as Arachnid dartboards; choose a side-exit D-coded sibling when clearance is tight.

Not sure this is the right Apex?

The Apex 7000 family shares one validator platform; models differ by power/interface, bezel and denominations. The 7602-UB3 is the 110VAC (internal power supply) / VFM-style bezel / $1 – $100 (USD) configuration. Closest alternatives:

  • Need $1 – $20 (USD) instead (denominations)? Choose the Apex 7402-UB3.
  • Need Standard Pyramid bezel instead (bezel)? Choose the Apex 7600-UB3.
  • Need Coinco-style bezel instead (bezel)? Choose the Apex 7601-UB3.
  • Need 12VDC instead (power / interface)? Choose the Apex 7602-UB1.
