Pyramid 05AA0068 Serial DB9 Harness (RS-232)

Pyramid RS-232 harness with a DB9 plug for connecting a 120 VAC acceptor to a PC or serial host.

When a bill acceptor has to talk RS-232 to a computer or serial host, this is the lead that connects it. The 05AA0068 runs from the acceptor's 18-pin connector to a DB9 plug, and Pyramid ties it to the 120 VAC versions of its acceptors. The Platinum Installation & Operation Manual (Rev. C), which we host, names it as the serial lead for 120V Platinum units only, with a DB9 plug at the end of a 6 ft run. Pyramid also names it for 120 VAC Apex units. Pyramid's own shop shows it as 05AA068, which is the same part. Don't confuse it with 05AA0009, the DB9 harness Pyramid specifies for 12V units. We haven't confirmed compatibility beyond the models listed here, so if your acceptor isn't one of them, call us before ordering.

Installation notes

The Platinum manual describes RS-232 as a polled link. The host machine is the master, the acceptor answers, and the acceptor must be set to RS-232 mode before it will communicate.

On a 120 VAC acceptor, power comes from the 9-pin AC connector, not from this harness. Pyramid's manual warns against connecting +12V to the 18-pin connector when the optional 120 VAC supply is used.
